Just Add a Sketch

This week is sketch week at Just Add Ink..and heres what I came up with ..Ive been having a wonderful time with my brayer and emboss resist.Heres how I did this..I started with Whisper white cardstock, I embossed with Night of Navy and clear embossing powder first and then I solid brayered over the top with Soft Suede. Solid brayering is just running the brayer over the cardstock and not the Michelle Zindorf style brayering to get that soft emerging colour. Dont worry Ill have a tutorial coming soon on that.

And then I had some of the brayered and embossed cardstock left over so then I added some dazzling diamonds to another card and here was the result ..pretty aye?

Inkspirations Colour challenge #21

I have had a bit of spare time (actually Im procrastinating) today and so I whipped this card up using Makeeshas colour challenge this week which caught my eye as being fresh and crisp. Ive been doing vintage/shabby for awhile now so it was lovely to work with these bright colours ..heres my card. ..as I said ..nice and simple ..well for me. Laugh!

Solid brayer emboss resist

I have been inspired by Sarah Klass this week at  JAI to try this out. You know I love to brayer right? I love that the solid brayering is soooo easy to do and you can totally change whisper white cardstock to the colour of your choice ..just with an ink pad and a brayer.

This was such a quick and easy card to do. I have also done something similar today but you will have to wait for that one..

Cottage Garden Impossible box

Ive been meaning to have a go at Paula Dobsons Impossible box for awhile now and finally got to make one last week. I added a handle. Whats more is that on Saturday I taught it to my Kawerau class and this is what they came up with..arent they just gorgeous!!

Thanks Paula for this wonderful box!

Stamp a holic Challenge

This is the second challenge for the Stamp-A-Holic Design Team and going with Carole’Annes and  Sandis theme its either a 10 minute card, 20 minute LO or 30 minute 3D item. I am a fast scrapbooker but being a fiddler sometimes,..I failed dismally at getting this LO done it 20 minutes as I had to add more hand cut flowers and then a fence. My Big Shot top note die and numbers (timeless type) certainly helped with the time factor but by this time I was already over the 20 minute mark ..so then I spent more time doing my hole piercing right around the outside. Laugh! Next week I will strive to make it inside the time!

Oh yeah..I rotated the sketch of course! Love doing that to sketches!

Hope you can all have a play and go and check out Carole’annes blog and what the other Design Team have come up with here

Just Add Vintage

This weeks challenge at Just Add Ink  is My favourite as I love vintage style in all its shabbyness and lace. My Corset card idea is not new and theres some wonderful templates out there  on the net but I saw a corset card on the net a few months ago and just had to make one.  My downline Sandra came up with this template and just hand drew it.

The Deets: Naturals Ivory CS, Black CS, Whisper white CS,  Manhattan embossing folder, White grosgrain ribbon, Scallop edge punch, Cropodile, Gold encore pad, Crimper, Best Yet hostess stamp set.

Mojo less!

Everything I did today ended up in the bin!..Had days like that? I often have this when I switch from scrapbooking and cards and as I did 4 double LOs and 4 single LOs you can say I scrapped up a storm! Well maybe not compared to some but I was busy gasbagging with all my lovely friends at the Autumn Escape (see a below post) and eating lollies..hmm!

I finally came up with this card which is a brayered card using my new stamp set Medallion.

I got this for free along with 2 other stamp sets of my choice and at any price. So how do you get free stuff from Stampin’ Up! …well in this case it was from my sales during saleabration but you can also get free stuff if demonstrators order over $350 just like hostesses.  In addition to this we also get free stamp sets for promoting to a higher level. I am off to a luxury scrapbooking retreat with Nic Howard and Kelly Goree now so will check back on Sunday to see how you have all gone.

Nic Howard is our own Making Memory Master and multipublished Icon of NZ scrapbooking both here and overseas. Kelly Goree is a designer at Basic Grey and is also an icon of scrabooking in the US ..Im very excited to meet her and be in two of her classes. Im also doing one of Nics and am really looking forward to that as she is a laid back and a fantastic teacher. Even though I would put myself as an advanced scrapbooker ..I still like to go to a class every so often and be taught by someone else. I appreciate the time and effort they give out to teach me ..and I like to give some feedback .. like I like to get (and do regularly ..thanks to my scrapbooking ladies) Im sure Im not going to be disappointed. I went to this inaugural retreat last year and felt so spoilt!

Cant wait!

woohoo!

I have  just found out I have made it onto Carole’ Anne and Sandi MacIvers’ Design Team

Am having a fantastic Monday morning now!!
