Little Scraps of Paper

JAI #213 Inspiration Challenge

How about this challenge to get your mojo going? Heres this weeks Just Add Ink challenge photo ..

JAI213Nikkiand heres what I came up with using the canvas creations and the spiral flower die.IMG_6559-004 I used the background and the spiral die with with the canvas, distressing it a bit on the edges. I stamped all over with the Petite Petals stamp set in Melon mambo and encore gold ink. Added the watercolour wonder washi tape, stamped a few flowers and sentiment  and voila…. I was done. To break up the large expanse, I added some random pearls. Here’s another view.IMG_6562-003 So I hope you can come along and play with us this week at Just Add Ink. Check out the other Design Team creations here

JAI 212 Colour Challenge

Today I’m off to an annual luxury scrapbooking retreat at Wairakei Resort in Taupo NZ(yahoo!)  ..but before I go, here is this weeks Just Add Ink challenge courtesy of me! lol

Its a colour Challenge this week.

and here is what Ive come up with ..

IMG_6666-001My inspiration for this card came from my garden ..especially my Hydrangeas just outside my back door which were all browned off for the Autumn.IMG_6669-001 Here’s a closeup.

One of my favourite punches, features here ..the 7/8th Scallop circle punch. This one punch features a lot in my cards and my scrapbooking as flowers..all scrunched up and sponged ..just awesome! I decided that I wanted a double bow treatment on this card and loved how they both looked together.

The stamps set Ive used is So Very Grateful which I have coloured with my markers and cut out using the Banner framelits.

Righto, I had better pack my car and head for Taupo! Check out what the other Design Team Members have created this week here.

Lest We Forget…

JAI 211 Sketch Challenge

This week we have a sketch from Paula. Here’s the sketch

JAI sketch Paula-001and here is what I came up with. I was determined to use my new rolls of gold Watercolour  Wonder washi tape for this card …it actually reminds me of the test pattern on TV as I grew up 24 hr TV in those days (showing my age here lol). Anyone else remember that? IMG_6643-002

Here’s the details of this card; Stamps I used were Woodgrain, Teeny Tiny sentiments (which you cant see because of the light but I have stamped on the little soft suede pennant with the gold encore ink) and the Just for you is part of the Hip Hip Hooray card kit. Ive punched 4 petite petal punches of Venetian Romance DSP (leftover scrap from my bottom panel) and one of the gold vellum. I then added a silver brad and wet and scrunched them all up. That lace tape is still a favourite of mine..I don’t know how many rolls of it Ive used over this Annual Catalogue year, but its probably in the vicinity of 40 rolls! IMG_6646-001

I saw someone (let me know if that was you) while blog surfing recently who did the wrapped twine thing..which I thought was lovely so that got a go on this card too.  My twine is the silver one as I keep on ordering the silver one but really, really want the gold one! I think the silver still works and tied in with the silver brad anyway.

I kept the inside pretty plain but still had some washi and twine going on there to tie it all in.IMG_6644-001

So I do hope you can play along with us at Just Add Ink..check out what the other members of the Design Team have come up with here.

Have a lovely Easter Weekend and be safe on the roads if you are travelling.

JAI 210 Just Add Easter!

Easter is just next week so this week with Just Add Ink,  our challenge is to get you all ready for Easter!

Here’s what I came up with ..

IMG_6634-001These are an Origami bunny using this tutorial here. I immediately thought fun is that and could easily whipped up by young and old alike!

For my bunnies I used the Retro Fresh DSP which I cut at 6×6. I have also used the 3/4 circle punch(nose and bunny tail) , wide oval punch, white bakers twine, sharpie marker (eyes and mouth), soft suede ink and a sponge. The Stamp set Ive used is Delightful Dozen.

My family were ecstatic to find that the little mini eggs I purchased for these DID NOT FIT! ..and my poor, poor family, had to eat all of the cadbury mini eggs instead!  So off I went to the supermarket again and I bought some cadbury milk chocolate mini bars/treats to fit..what a score for them!

Here is the back of the bunny.

I’m handing these out next week to some of my regular customers at work!

IMG_6633-001So I hope you come along and play with us this week!

Have a lovely and creative weekend.

Just Add Layers!

Its my challenge this week and as you know I love layers so that’s it ..Just Add Layers …that’s more than two!

Here’s mine! I have 6 layers on this card!

I hadn’t had By the Tide stamp set out for some time so I embossed the coral with Smoky Slate and stamped over the fish with Stazon onto water colour paper and coloured with my aquabrush. The DSP is High Tide DSP (occasions catalogue).  I was pretty chuffed to discover that if I turned the Scallops Textured Embossing Folder over then it looked like waves!  Lightbulb moment lol.

Lots of framelits used on this card…Banner, Starburst, on Film and word bubble …love em!

So hope you can come and play with us this week at Just Add Ink..check out what the other Design Team have done here

Have a lovely weekend wherever you are..

JAI 208 Colour Challenge

Short post today as running late for work…oops!

This week at Just Add Ink, we have a bright and colourful combo courtesy of Trish!

Heres what I came up with using the Pacific Point paper stack, Around Array and Starburst sayings stamp sets. The border under the central panel was using the On film framelit die. I just added my Pacific Point bow over the join. Love to use things how you wouldnt normally use them!

JAI 207 Sketch Challenge

This week at Just Add Ink, we have a sketch challenge courtesy of’s the gorgeous sketch! sketch207 … here’s what I came up with using the Watercolour wonder DSP, (also-Starburst  bundle, arrow EF, lace doily, lace tape, white bakers twine and some rhinestones). I sponged with crisp cantaloupe ink.  Oops, unlike me to take a photo of the inside but thats all decorated up to as was the envelope.IMG_6481-002This card has gone to a special SU Demonstrator that’s helped me out lately. Thank you!

Check out what the other Just Add Ink Design Team have come up with here

Hope you come and play with us this week!

Just Add Saleabration!

Its not often that our challenges reflect that almost all of us are Stampin’ Up! Demonstrators but this challenge is all about Saleabration (which is finishing in a couple of weeks time). So for those of you who are lovers of SU products ..this challenge is for you!

Heres what I came up with using the Sweet Sorbet DSP and the Petal Parade Stamp set. IMG_6471-001I stamped the centre panel with stazon black and the Petal Parade Stamp set. I then sponged over with Summer Starfruit, Crisp Cantaloupe and Pool Party. I havent used the lace tape for ages!!! I was having a giggle about my card and thought it was a bit dark/goth even the lace tape softened the whole card a bit dont you think?  Ive used the new spiral die to make my flower and tied a bow with the Saleabration Sweet Sorbet twine (accessory pack).

You know me ..I had to decorate the inside too!  IMG_6465-003Obviously my stazon black needs reinking ..but our Daughter didn’t even notice as this card was for her 17th Birthday this week.  She also got some handmade cards from her friends and was equally thrilled to get those and handmade gifts they made her..I love that she appreciates the love in the handmade gifts!

So pop on over to the Just Add Ink Blog and check out what the other Design Team Members have done this week here.

Have a lovely crafty weekend wherever you are!

Just Add A Sunburst Challenge

Tina came up with our challenge this week at Just Add Ink, to use a sunburst on your card or scrapbook layout.. Well there is some pretty spectacular sunburst creations by the Design Team this week..check them out here

Heres mine..IMG_6407-001 I used the lovely and bright Kaleidoscope DSP for this card and the Banner Framelit bundle. Like my card earlier this week, Ive done some scoring down the bottom as a feature.  The starburst is using the Starburst framelit and cutting some of it out. I probably should have done that a bit more even but I liked the randomness of it in the end so stuck with it. I’m most impressed with how my little twine bow turned out ..usually it takes me a few goes at it but this time I managed to tie it nicely first time! Bonus!

Inside, Ive used The Blessed Easter stamp and Teeny Tiny Sentiments.  This card has gone to a fellow demonstrator in Aussie who has just had surgery. IMG_6409-001So I hope you come and play with us this week. I cant wait to see what you come up with for this challenge.

JAI #204 Colour Challenge

This week at Just Add Ink we have a Colour Challenge courtesy of Nikki Spencer. JAI204button

I struggled a little with these colours until I went with Pistachio Pudding as my main colour.

Heres what I came up with… a simple layout of our Daughter off to her first day of her last year of High School..IMG_6392-001man!.. has that time flown! I cried when she went to Primary School as she is the youngest…And will cry when she leaves school!  The title is a bit of a misnomer as she hasn’t left yet, but, I wanted to convey how Hubby and I will be enjoying/relishing  her last year at  home and will miss her when she goes to uni.  Here’s a closeup. closeupThe gold vellum fit the bill perfectly for this challenge along with some of the new Bakers twine. Ive used both the banner framelits and the cute banner punch for this LO. Ive added a few pearls around the place and some crumb cake washi. The title? This was made using one of the stamps out of the Just Sayin’ stamp set and using my marker to then stamp on to a Retro Fresh Designer journalling tag..I love to use these journalling tags! I used my score tool to make a frame. The Unlike is from the Make note rotary stamp ..I just added the ‘un’ with my crumb cake marker.

So hope you all come and play with us at Just Add Ink this check out what the rest of the Design team have done here.

Happy Crafting!
