Sneak Peek for Februarys Mini Album Scrapbooking Club

Yay I am nearly finished Februarys’ Mini album for my Mini Album Scrapbooking Club!

Here is a sneak peek for you!

IMG_4271-001I’m using some new products from our next Seasonal Mini catalogue  on this mini album and it is suited for a masculine album (but you could easily make it feminine just with the addition of  some bling perhaps?)

Now just got to find some photos of my camera shy teen son from  last year to fill it!

Ill be updating my class times and venues in the next couple of days. If you want me to teach you Scrapbooking or Card making then email me!

JAI Big Shot Blog Hop!

Hi everyone and welcome to our first card  challenge for 2013!

We have a treat for you with a Big Shot Blog Hop for most of the JAI team.

You may have come from Mae Collins’ awesome angry birds or from the Just Add Ink blog but if you get lost on the way ..check below to see the list of the blog hop order.

So I decided to focus on the doily sizzlet dies in our main catalogue (pg191). These dies are beautiful but they can be a bit tricky getting out all the intricate detail. The time spent is well worth it.  I have a very dodgy video now on my classroom blog (see it there with some of my tips..its dodgy as, as its taken on my cellphone as cant find the camera cable! grrr)

Ive been scrapbooking with this die lately and here is what Ive come up with.

IMG_4221-001This LO is a sneak peek of lots of new product coming in our Autumn Seasonal Catalogue out on the first of February.  For this large doily I actually dyed a Whisper White doily to get that intense colour. This and the below mini album will be available on my classroom blog in February.

You may have already seen a sneak peek of  my mini album as its for my mini album scrapbooking club.  I embossed the doilies for more texture.

Of course Ive made a few cards/embellishments for boxes with these doily dies too so these items get the big tick in my book as they are suitable for both scrapbooking and card making and 3D work.

So my tips?

1. Use a coffee filter as a shim under the dies ..seems to give an extra ‘give’ to the sandwich. Ive tried it with a plastic shim, waxed paper and cardstock and this has worked for me ..Each Big shot will be different though as they are all calibrated slightly different.

2. Use a stylus to get out the bits leftover in the die. Its important to get all these remnants out as it can affect the die the next time you cut. I use a circular motion  with the stylus to encourage the bits to come out. This is better than using a needle or your scissors..try it!

3. To get all of the cut out bits to pop out, I use my stylus again on the diecut and on my stamping pierce mat. The extra ‘give’ in the pierce mat seems to make it easier than on a hard surface.

To see a video of these tips you can go over here to my classroom blog to watch it.

When you get back you can continue the journey on to the next Design Team Member ..which is Nikki Spencer.

JAI Scrap #11

Ive be Awol a bit lately but Ive been incredibly busy making stuff up for a local Christmas show ..which was last weekend. More details and photos on that later but here is my Just add Ink scrap challenge entry for this month. Our challenge this month is an Off the Page item as a gift. Im making some of these desk calendars this year for my family. On the other side of the the calendar is a photo  so that they can keep it longer than a year!

Heres a closeup of the calendar. I wanted to be able to post it so it opens up flat for mailing. You can see the little cellophane pocket that sits inside of the calendar when not being used.

Ive been teaching this calendar to my class ladies this month. I just have Gisborne to go for this calendar but if you’d like a private class on how to do this then email me. I need at least 6 students for a private class.

The paper Ive used is the Orchard Harvest DSP but I gave my class ladies a choice of paper to choose from.

Well had better get cracking and actually do something today apart from sort out my dodgy internet connection.

Do check out what Tina has done for this challenge! You can see that here

Then this might be the Scrapbooking club for you!  Starting in January and running for 6 months, I will be offering this service to any New Zealand customer if you sign up to my Mini Album scrapbooking club.  These mini albums are exclusive and each one is new and exciting!

What it costs = $65 of product you want (plus 5% shipping) per month for 6 months.  You will send me your order by the 5th of each month and I will send your order plus the mini album kit back to you (wherever you are in NZ). You will need to supply general tool kit and adhesives to make up the album.

What you get = Each month one of you in the club (6) will take a turn at being the hostess. That monthly hostess will get $35 of free product to spend! if you are the hostess for the month and want to spend more to bump it up to the next level then you get those hostess benefits too.  I will draw your name out of the hat which month you will be hostess.

You will also get a one of a kind Mini album kit all cut up and ready to assemble with clear instructions. If I taught these mini albums in a class I would be charging at least $20 so you are getting a bargain as you get it for free!

Calendar class

This is my calendar class for this month. I make one of these every year and personalise it with my photos and stamps that I love.

Heres a couple of the inside pages to show you. Ive kept the stamping very basic but will no doubt add some more embellishments after the classes finish because there will be no time for extra embellishment making during the class lol.

This colour way is using the Paisley Petals but I have another kit with Well Worn DSP. I havent done one of those up yet as Im busy finishing my Incentive Trip swaps.

Three sleeps to go and getting very excited!

Ive Been A Little Busy Lately..

Making my projects for the NZ Stampin Day Out In Auckland NZ. This was held on Saturday and I had a ball catching up with my wider team, demos from all around NZ and spending time with my own team (The Del Ink Quents)

I taught/demonstrated to 172 demos and guests and helped on the day on the Big Shot product display table all day which was lots of fun.

I got to play with the petal cone die and here is the first theme of my projects…My brief was for 2 themes if I had time and of course I just had so much fun that I ended up with 3 themes. This one is a tween birthday party theme. So we have the invite, party cone bag, party favor nail set, a mini album that is a make n take at the birthday party  and the telescoping circle card thank you (using the new pennant die) . You can see lots of new product here..cant wait until 1st September for the new 2011/2012  Idea Book and Catalogue launch!

Come back tomorrow for my next theme!

Ive also had a local show this weekend as well. Thanks to my team for covering for me on Saturday while I was teaching in Auckland. I had a lovely day at the show today meeting lots of new ladies so Im waving hi to all of you!.

Tag album

This was my final project that I showed at Convention. I havent shown it yet as Ive been busy teaching it to my classes. Im almost done with teaching it (just one more in Rotorua in a couple of weeks)

If you are like me when you make mini albums ..the inserts always come out and then end up in the wrong pocket so I made this album so they dont fall out at all. They are made with our large square envelopes (you can see my other smaller version in a couple of days). They hook up on the flap of the envelope.

Now my inspiration for this album was from a card I saw a couple of years ago but I have since moved computers and I cant find the link for that. I made mine vertical though.

Ive since found another version using CD envelopes since I made mine and you can see Michelle Allens’ here.Check out that website..lots of yummy ideas there!

Just when you think youve come up with something new..you find someone on the other side of the world has done the same. lol

Mine was a 70s inspired album which I thought went beautifully with the Autumn Spice Specialty papers.

I had a lot of fun using these papers, felt, Tasteful trim die,  flower folds die, lots of jumbo eyelets and my fave….adhesive sheets! My main focus was on the journalling so there is very little stamping on there. The photos I sourced from the internet as my parents were terrible at taking photos and used to cut of the heads when taking the photos..lol was that just my parents or did yours do that too?  We also lost a lot of photos in our flood in 2004.

If you are interested in a kit or doing this class in Rotorua or a private class then.. email me!
