Heres what I came up with. I have used the fun flowers die to make most of my flowers using a few techniques, our new crepe paper and canvas sheet.  Love both of these items and have just ordered some more for a class or two to teach this LO.

Heres a close up.

IMG_4685-002 I have a hidden journalling tag behind the photos which is in a little ripped pocket.  The Chipboard letters are from my stash but everything else is SU. This Layout is actually about my teenage daughters mood swings. Thankfully these seem to be happening less and less now! (big grin!)

Do hope you can join us this month ..check out what Ruthy and Tina have done here.

JAI Scrap #16- Just Add Siblings

Hmmm.. March came and went in a hurry didnt it? So Aprils here and this months scrapbooking theme at Just Add Ink is to just add siblings. My kids no longer want to have their photo together (being teens) so I had to resort to scrapping my hubby and his brother..which is really good to do actually! Its not often I get to scrap photos of Hubby!

Ive been playing around with MDS lately and using it mainly for my blog and facebook headers but Ive had a little play with some LOs.

This one is a hybrid Layout which is digital and traditional scrapping.

IMG_4663-002Basically what I did was use an 8×8 custom LO (just used several stamps digitally) in MDS and then printed it out and adhered it to Basic Black cardstock . Added the button, bakers twine, stamp (brother) and the mini brads. You cant quite see that Ive mitred the corners.  The one below you can.  So hope you have a go with our challenge this week. You can scrap traditionally as always or if digi is your thing then lets see those entries too!

You will all need to provide a laptop with MDS installed ..all of which can be downloaded and purchased from my store here!

It is just $27.95 to purchase. There is a free trial version also so you can try before you buy!

This year I’m pleased to be doing a make n take again ( I do this every alternate year)  ..so for those going ..please let me know what you want to see with Stampin’ Up! and Ill try and an design something!

JAI Scrap #14 Lace and Ephemera

Now this challenge is right up my alley as love using lace and ephemera on my LOs..just didn’t have a lot of time this week to do this challenge justice! My daughter just loves it to bits really so that makes it all worthwhile!  Ive used our new pool party Coredination cardstock for my base and got a bit carried away with sanding it back lol. The edges were distressed too (cropped out) with our new distressing tool. Ive used a few items from the Artisan Embellishment kit here along with More Amore specialty paper, lace tape, Hung up paper clips and our pink pirouette two toned ribbon. I got a kiss and a hug when my Daughter read the journalling ..which I handwrote (shocking I know, for me, as I normally only computer journal as I hate my handwriting!)

Sneak Peek for Februarys Mini Album Scrapbooking Club

Yay I am nearly finished Februarys’ Mini album for my Mini Album Scrapbooking Club!

Here is a sneak peek for you!

IMG_4271-001I’m using some new products from our next Seasonal Mini catalogue  on this mini album and it is suited for a masculine album (but you could easily make it feminine just with the addition of  some bling perhaps?)

Now just got to find some photos of my camera shy teen son from  last year to fill it!

Ill be updating my class times and venues in the next couple of days. If you want me to teach you Scrapbooking or Card making then email me!

JAI Big Shot Blog Hop!

Hi everyone and welcome to our first card  challenge for 2013!

We have a treat for you with a Big Shot Blog Hop for most of the JAI team.

You may have come from Mae Collins’ awesome angry birds or from the Just Add Ink blog but if you get lost on the way ..check below to see the list of the blog hop order.

So I decided to focus on the doily sizzlet dies in our main catalogue (pg191). These dies are beautiful but they can be a bit tricky getting out all the intricate detail. The time spent is well worth it.  I have a very dodgy video now on my classroom blog (see it there with some of my tips..its dodgy as, as its taken on my cellphone as cant find the camera cable! grrr)

Ive been scrapbooking with this die lately and here is what Ive come up with.

IMG_4231-001

IMG_4221-001This LO is a sneak peek of lots of new product coming in our Autumn Seasonal Catalogue out on the first of February.  For this large doily I actually dyed a Whisper White doily to get that intense colour. This and the below mini album will be available on my classroom blog in February.

You may have already seen a sneak peek of  my mini album as its for my mini album scrapbooking club.  I embossed the doilies for more texture.

IMG_4207-002

Of course Ive made a few cards/embellishments for boxes with these doily dies too so these items get the big tick in my book as they are suitable for both scrapbooking and card making and 3D work.

IMG_4112-001

So my tips?

1. Use a coffee filter as a shim under the dies ..seems to give an extra ‘give’ to the sandwich. Ive tried it with a plastic shim, waxed paper and cardstock and this has worked for me ..Each Big shot will be different though as they are all calibrated slightly different.

2. Use a stylus to get out the bits leftover in the die. Its important to get all these remnants out as it can affect the die the next time you cut. I use a circular motion  with the stylus to encourage the bits to come out. This is better than using a needle or your scissors..try it!

3. To get all of the cut out bits to pop out, I use my stylus again on the diecut and on my stamping pierce mat. The extra ‘give’ in the pierce mat seems to make it easier than on a hard surface.

To see a video of these tips you can go over here to my classroom blog to watch it.

When you get back you can continue the journey on to the next Design Team Member ..which is Nikki Spencer.

JAI scrap challenge #12-2012 in review

Yay I got time to get back into some scrapbooking and this year I want to focus more on my scrapbooking. I have some things in the pipeline for that so watch this space!

This months scrapbooking challenge was from me as I often have a yearly in review LO that is all about our previous year. I may have scrapped many of the events already, but this puts it all on one LO. Mostly its about the journaling but for this LO, I decided I wanted lots of photos.

This paper is our new Saleabration paper called Sycamore street and will be available on the 22nd January for free with a qualifying order of $120.

2012 in review LO  So this is really hard to photograph when its in a page protector..hence why you see some Delys silhouettes lol

I got 6 of 4×6 photos printed at Harvey Normans.  I got my photos printed using the 6 up function on the photo kiosks. I then cut them up and put them onto a 7.5 inch square. I did trim them down a little (i took 1/16 off 2 sides of each photo). Next, I matted that onto a 8 inch square Crumb Cake piece of CS and embellished with some stamps and punches.  I then popped it in a 8×8 page protector (which is slightly more than 8×8). On the main LO, I cut a large square of paper and attached it to the CC base and then I printed out my journaling and attached that to a 7  1/2  x 7 1/2 inch Tangerine tango piece. I wanted the 8×8 photo mat in the age protector to be on the outside of the 12 x12 page protector and I get annoyed at having to get the LO out of the page protector to see any hidden journaling..so this is how I did that. IMG_4188-001

I worked out where the centre of my Layout was and put a mark with a pencil where the 8×8 page was going to go. I then fed my 12 x 12 over my rubber self healing mat and cut the slit where the page protector hinge would feed through.  (I put some sticky strip on that hinge flap bottom). I then added my journaling mat over the top (mark out where that goes with a pencil too). This covered up the 8×8 protector hinge.

IMG_4191-001Finally I added some embellishments. Note that you wont be able to take this LO out of the page protector afterwards. But I found it easy enough to add embellishments after anyway. The 2012 and button are on the outside of the page protector ..stuck down well with tombow!

I hope this inspires you to play along with our challenge this month!
